Yuuzen-zomee is a technique that involves dyeing as if painting a picture on cloth.
In my opinion, Yuuzen-zome is truly an original and unique dyeing technique existing
only in Japan.
I first discovered Yuuzen-zome at the age of 19. I trained to de a Yuuzen-zome artist
under Mr.Masaru Hayasaka, a traditional craft artist. With support of many people
including my husband and children, I have worked as a professional Yuuzen-zome
artist over the last 50 years.
Kimono(e.g. kimono , obi belts) are no longer worn casually in our daily life. Therefore,
I hope to carry on the tradition of Yuuzen-zome through producing Japanese folding
screens (byoubu), Japanese handing scroll (kakejiku), frames, Japanese wrapping cloth,
and stores.
